NFAI houses a well-stocked book and periodicals library on cinema and its related arts. NFAI library holds about 29,000 books on cinema published across the globe. It has more than 100 periodicals on Cinema published in various Indian languages. 31,000 film scripts received from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are also stocked here.
These forms a valuable part of the Archive's collection as many of the films are now untraceable. Censor records going back to the 1920s and bound volumes of Indian film magazines from the 1930s onwards are among the other important materials available for reference and study at the NFAI Book Library.
The library also extends its services to students, researchers, journalists and others who are interested in Cinema. All old periodicals, rare books and scripts are digitized.
Photocopy facilities are provided at 2/- per A4 size page.
